BANFIELD ST. PAUL
Pet Hospital | Tenant Build-Out | 11,000 SF | Saint Paul, MN
The completion of Banfield Pet Hospital’s St. Paul location tenant improvement project marks the 11th collaboration with Welsh Construction. For this specific location, Banfield had the goal of innovating the previous, outdated veterinary clinic that was previously there by building a new, state-of-the-art veterinary clinic to serve the St. Paul community and attract veterinary talent. This process took part in two phases, spanning from March to November 2021, within which Welsh provided both preconstruction and general construction services.
This particular project had a unique set of challenges, but with Welsh’s agile planning and communication, it was completed smoothly. The vision for this new hospital site differed from the beginning; it involved aligning and combining the two separate buildings that previously existed in the space, into one. These two original buildings differed in height between floors which required intensive planning and preparation in order to align for the final building. This introduced MEP complications, especially with the
minimal space between joyces. However, with numerous onsite meetings and thorough communication with trade partners, Welsh successfully navigated these complexities. The end-result, conjoined building is now providing Banfield with sufficient space to meet their needs, including 2 surgical suites, additional clinic rooms, and an in-house pharmacy.
The overall scope of work included excavation, concrete, masonry, asphalt, landscaping, roofing, interior demo, drywall, painting, ceramic tiles, ACT, electrical, mechanical, security, and fire alarm system implementation.
