HUDSON HOSPITAL & CLINIC
EMS Ambulance Garage | New Construction | 5,000 SF | Hudson, WI
Hudson Hospital & Clinic, within the Lakeview Hospital network of Health Partners, needed a new facility for their Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team to house their ambulances and staff. Having a contract with the City of Hudson in addition to their own hospital’s EMS needs, they needed to expand.
We were brought in at a time where the project was in jeopardy due to estimate overruns. Our team brought a different approach and better game plan for the project that would benefit the client in the long run. Our persistence paid off and we won the job, a design build project construct as block structure rather than the wood frame the competitor was suggesting. With construction starting just before winter, erecting a block building saved time and money.
The 2.5-acre site next to Hudson Hospital & Clinic with an ambulance garage that can currently house 3 rigs, with room and option to expand in the future. The building also features a living quarters for medics and staff, including office space, showers, full kitchen and four bedrooms.
Critical to the success of this project was planning, planning and more planning. Upfront communication was also key, and finding the right subcontractors early on was crucial. Since the project is just over the Minnesota state line in Hudson, WI, Welsh couldn’t rely on some of their usual trade partners, and needed to build new relationships that could be trusted in Hudson. After establishing the right team, Welsh’s project manager and superintendent did extensive planning to ensure the project stayed on budget and schedule. In fact, they delivered the finished product to the client two months early!
